Grimsby Town's transfer-listed Welsh international keeper Danny Coyne is set for talks with Cardiff City.

The big-spending Bluebirds have already snapped up Barnsley defender Chris Barker and midfielder Gareth Whalley this summer and Ipswich Town full-back Gary Croft is also poised to join Lennie Lawrence's outfit.

Now Lawrence is keen to swoop on his former club, with Coyne having been transfer-listed by the Mariners, along with Phil Jevons, due to financial constraints at the club.

Lawrence had earlier revealed his interest in the 29-year-old former Tranmere Rovers star, telling the club's official website: "A lot of other clubs will be interested in Danny because the transfer fee Grimsby will be looking for now is significantly less than it was a year ago.

"If he came here, because Neil Alexander performed so well at the end of last season he would start the season as second choice."
